RGMVP’s
vision of ‘Organising the poor to unleash
their energy’ through women’s empowerment
and poverty alleviation is put into action
through the Programme’s Development Initiatives,
which are reached to the poor through CIPs. Once
CIPs are established and begin operation, all
development initiatives are routed through them
to reach every woman and household.
The energy of the poor is unleashed when they
are organised and enabled to build their own
social capital to address various issues
concerning their lives, which have a direct
impact on their development.
The most innovative feature of these Development
Initiatives is that they are executed through
CIPs and identified best practitioners and
resource persons (CRPs) who are put through
training and capacity building processes. This
women-to-women and community-to-community
transfer of ideas and knowledge through the CRPs
enables more and more poor to benefit from
RGMVP’s Development Initiatives such as
community-based healthcare and education,
sustainable agriculture and livelihoods, social
and gender action and environment initiative on
solar power. With a nominal investment of only
INR 1,000 per family over a period of six years,
it is possible to organise poor families into
these institutions and to see the visible impact
in their income as well as human development
measures.
The entire process of execution is led by the
community; RGMVP provides sensitive support and
facilitates and simplifies each area so that
best practices can be easily internalised by the
community. |
